Checking off my list...

Corey and I started off the weekend by attending a free concert in the park at Lakefront in Prior Lake on Friday night. The concert was a way to get people together and have "Families feeding Families". Nora, Kirby, Corey, Summit and I all brought food for the local food shelf and enjoyed great music. We also stayed up late watching the Olympics.

On Saturday Corey and I headed to Bloomington to get framing supplies to finally finish putting together the picture Mike and Aimee gave us last Christmas. (I'll have to post a picture of it later.) We stopped by Triple Play Sports on the way home to check it out. It's a sports activity place right near our house! We played a game of mini golf (I lost) and hit a few rounds of balls in the batting cages. It was a great "date" day. We had another late night glued to the t.v. watching Olympics. U-S-A...U-S-A...U-S-A!

On Sunday we went to the MN Zoo. The weather was perfect and I was really excited to go and enjoy the zoo without keeping track of 20 kids on a field trip like I've done many times in the past. The new Grizzly exhibit is GREAT!!! We were able to cover every inch of the zoo but we were a little disappointed that the Dolphin Show was cancelled for the day.
We made a stop at the Mall of America to pick up a t-shirt frame. (I got a really neat Wizard of Oz-Harley Davidson t-shirt from my in-laws and I wanted to frame it for my Wizard of Oz room.) We cooled off with some ice cream and took a stroll around the mall to check out what was new. We came to the Sears court when we noticed that there was a Blood Drive going on. I knew that I just had to do it...give blood. I put it on my check list for New Years Resolutions. I have never given blood before and have always wanted to but have been scared of the needles and the stories I've heard about the nurses missing a vein and having huge bruises. Well...I sucked it up and did it. I was REALLY PROUD OF MYSELF! I cried a little...mostly because by the time it was my turn Corey was already switching chairs (and arms) because they couldn't find his vein. I was scared and it took and little bit of painful wiggling with the needle, but the nurse I had was awesome and kept me laughing. Another volunteer kept me feeling good by serving me juice and treats. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I was really happy to know that I have now helped save a life. Even if it's only with 1 pint.

This weekend was great despite having a sore right arm from hitting softballs (it's been 11 years!!) and a sore and bruised left arm from giving blood....but I had FUN!
