Our 'helping hands' theme this month at my school is Og's Bountiful Books. (Og is our bookworm mascot at school.) Parents/students are asked to donate books which will be delivered to a single-parent and child shelter at the end of February.
We are having lots of fun with our guest readers. Last week we had the principal from Glendale Elementary read to our class, today we had a visit from Muss, Donna Valentine and Fish: the K102 (country) morning show. On Friday we get to hear a story from a Savage police officer. Next week we are excited to have the Mayor of Savage read as well as Thomasin Franken (Al Franken's daughter).
I'm still waiting for my school to upload pictures to their web site...the kids are having a great time with all of our 'reading' visitors. (I think the teachers are more excited!!)
